The Importance of Female Cancer Cover

Bearing in mind the dangers that are facing women today, Platinum Life has created the Female Cancer Policy. National statistics show that 1 in 8 South African women will contract cancer over their lifetimes. Breast Cancer is most prevalent with Cervical Cancer at a close second.

Breast cancer and cervical cancer are by far the most common cancers amongst South African women. These cancers affect anyone irrespective of whether you have had the misfortune to experience them in your family before or not. When a positive diagnosis of cancer is made, certain financial obligations arise.

We have performed exclusive research in this area over the years, consulting with various doctors. When a person is diagnosed with cancer, their initial concern centre around issues such as how to pay for the expensive treatment, the time off work required for treatment, outstanding bills, and a range of other financial issues.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]

Most medical aids have a limit to the amount of cover that they pay out for in any given year for any given illness. Many do not cover reconstructive surgery after the loss of a breast as this is classified by the medical aid industry as a “cosmetic operation”. Platinum Life acknowledges these issues, and bearing this in mind, created this policy.
